Date Set For Amish Garden Walk – June 16, 2012

March 20th, 2012 by Scottish B&B

Since today is the first day of spring, what better way to celebrate the changing of the seasons than marking our calendars for one of the highlights of the year – the Amish Garden Walk right here in Bremen, Indiana!

Amish Flower Garden

Amish Flower Garden

Every year the Amish community in Bremen, Indiana holds a “Garden Walk” with several Amish families participating. The annual Amish Garden Walk in the Rentown area is Saturday, June 16, 2012 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. They ask for a donation ($7.00) which helps the local Amish school. There are always new discoveries to be made among the neat rows of vegetables and bright flowers. (And no weeds!)

The Amish Garden Walk starts at the Amish School house with a sweet snack and beverage for everyone to enjoy. They also sell fresh baked goods, with proceeds benefiting the Amish community. As we walk to the different Amish gardens, the Amish grocery store gives out “FREE” homemade ice cream. It’s a great way to spend a day, and we’re helping the children in the Amish community learn by donating to their school! Don’t forget to bring your camera!

Third Annual “Amish Garden Walk” in Bremen, Indiana

April 26th, 2011 by Scottish B&B

When The Sun RisesEvery year the Amish community in Bremen, Indiana holds a “Garden Walk” with eight Amish families participating this year. The third annual “Amish Garden Walk” in Rentown area is Saturday, June 18 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. They ask for a donation ($7.00) which the money helps the local Amish school.  I have attended every year since it started and I always suggest it to my guests.  One year I found an Amish guy who beautifully carves clocks in his shop and sells them. Never knew his shop was there, I was never in their back yard before.  So my guests now visit this unique shop and can purchase a grandfathers clock or a small alarm clock in different types of wood. The “Amish Garden Walk” starts at the Amish School house and they sell bake goods and have a dessert snack and beverage for all of us to enjoy. As we walk to the different Amish gardens, the Amish grocery store gives out “FREE” homemade ice cream. I enjoy the beautiful landscape, their farm animals, vegetable gardens and flower gardens….with NO weeds. A very enjoyable day! Bring your camera!  We are all helping their Amish children learn by donating to their school.
